Install printer on a direct connection

NOTE:

The printer driver is available through the Windows 7 operating system and does not need to be downloaded from the HP web site.

NOTE:

The screen shots are intended to provide an example of the installation. There may be slight variances between products. Follow the on-screen prompts during the installation process to complete the installation of the driver.

1. Select Start and then Devices and Printers from the Windows desktop.
2. Click Add a Printer .
   
3. Select Add a local printer when asked what type of printer do you want to install?
   
4. Select Use an existing port on the Choose a printer port screen, select LPT1: (Printer Port)
   or USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB) from the drop-down menu, and then click Next .
   
5. Select HP from the Manufacturer menu and choose the desired printer in the
   Printers menu from the Install a printer driver screen, and then click Next .
   
6. If the printer is not displayed in the Printers list, click the Windows Update button.

   NOTE:

   The Windows Update may take some time. Do not interrupt the update process.

   
7. Type a printer name in the Printer name text box on the Type a printer name screen
   and then click Next .
   
8. A message indicating your have successfully installed the printer will display.
   You have the option to print a test page or complete the install. Print a test page,
   if desired, and then click Finish .
